This is Mickey a 4 month old Terrier mix and he's worked his way to adoptable. Mickey is adorable but he needs a very specific type of home and we won't deviate from his needs A little back history on Mickey, he and his brother Pluto came to us from California and we were told they came from a hoarding situation. Mickey has always been extremely shy of people and he hasn't progressed as much as we'd like. We have tried different fosters and scenarios. It's not doing him any good staying with his foster now, he needs to progress further in his own home.where he can build confidence and not be moved again. What we are looking for as Mickey's new home. 1. Someone who can and is WILLING to work with a shy dog. Shy dog experience preferred. 2. Calmer type home without a lot of change and people coming and going. 3. Another confident dog for Mickey to play and pal around with. 4. A person who can look past his history and not feel sorry for him. Mickey needs a confident person who is willing to push him beyond his comfort zone in a positive manner. 5. Someone willing to meet Mickey in his foster home a few times so he will be a little less stressed when adopted. (Cold Springs) 6. Children are fine with Mickey as long as they are capable of giving him space when he needs it, same with friends who visit the home. A toddler may not be the best fit for him. 7. Patient and perseverance... It will take time, months or longer, maybe even years. Mickey may never be that dog who loves people more than other dogs.
