Please read the entire post, we know Hershey is very cute but he does have special needs.
Hershey is a 2 year old English Bulldog. He is a very sweet and adorable bowling ball, but he does have some special needs. When Hershey first arrived, he was cowering, walking with his head against the floor and urinating himself at the sight of men and raised voices. We believe that someone may have been unkind to him at one point or the other. For a while, he only wanted to be in his crate, his “safe space”.
Hershey is doing much better, and loves snuggling and giving kisses.... but it is something that sometimes gets triggered. Whenever his “fight or flight” response gets triggered, he will growl and eventually run to his crate. He has never displayed this in his foster home, and has been nothing but an angel, but we have seen it occur in a trial home. We are looking for a family who understands this, and is willing to work with our trainer and understand that he needs steady boundaries and kindness. When put in positions where he feels defensive, this may be seen. We know that he can succeed, because he’s gone several months in a foster home without a single issue. He has never shown defensiveness towards women or children, only adult men.
His adopter will be required to attend training with our trainer, it is free, and it is crucial to his success.
Hershey loves children more than life itself, but we are asking for no young children due to the circumstances. He would do best as an only dog, or at a home with a submissive and playful dog. He is a no for cats.
Overall, Hershey has been a dream in foster. He’s been extremely snuggly and loving, he’s potty trained, crate trained, knows basic obedience and has been just the sweetest guy ever. He just needs a family with patience and understanding. He’s neutered, vaccinated and chipped. Please message the page or text/call 775-303-8364 to learn more
