Doberman Pinscher / Mixed (short coat) : : Male (neutered) : : Young
Meet Durango, an approximately 2-year-old Doberman mix looking for a very special forever home.
Durango was adopted from Res-Que as a puppy and, through no fault of his own, is returning to our care. Over the past six months, we've worked closely with his veterinary team to determine the cause of his skin issues, and he has been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. While there is no cure, the condition is very manageable with daily medication.
When Durango is on his medication, he thrives. He's happy, playful, and enjoys life to the fullest. During flare-ups, he develops sores and scabs that become very itchy, which is why staying on his treatment plan is so important.
We understand that adopting a dog with ongoing medical needs can feel overwhelming. To help make that commitment a little easier, Res-Que will cover the cost of Durango's medication for his first year in his new home. We've already done the difficult work of reaching a diagnosis and establishing an effective treatment plan.
Beyond his medical condition, Durango is a wonderful companion. He currently lives as an only dog but has done well at doggy daycare and enjoys the company of other dogs. His compatibility with cats is unknown, and we believe he would do best in a home with older children. He loves going for walks, spending time with his people, and has a gentle, affectionate personality.
If you think you may be the right match for Durango, we'd love to talk with you. Please submit an adoption application at

, and we'll be in touch.
Sometimes the dogs who need us the most make the very best companions. We hope Durango's perfect family is out there.
